Her vocals in the concert weren't very good I think. There were some songs she nailed, but I think most of them were performed better in her other concerts (I especially thought Say the Word, and Wishing on the Same Star were lackluster). It's understandable since her set this time is so long and almost all of them are dance songs, but I still wish the DVD had been taken at one of her earlier concerts. Some of the camera angles are still annoying, but once you get "used" to them, it's not as bad as I had originally thought. Really wished she danced more in this concert, but I can see why she didn't. Please take a deserved rest Namie! Haha. One thing I really did like about this concert was the stage and video planning. Much more developed than her previous concerts and am really looking forward to the next one. She is keeping a good balance of her performance skills without going full-on effects like some of the other artists out there... won't name names :P

I'm afraid I'll have to agree with the previous poster. I thought this concert ended up being rather average. Namie's voice was not at its best (not as bad as Break the Rules Tour though, luckily), at times she would sing slower than the beat, she'd sometimes stop singing for rather large portions of a song (like in Want Me Want Me), there's much too little dancing... The concert does pick up and get better around "No", even if her vocals are still lacking. The first half of the concert was quite forgettable, imo. I understand it's been a long tour and that she was sick shortly before the concert was filmed.. I really wish they would've let her rest for a couple of weeks so she could've given EVERYTHING and made this concert the best out of them all (cuz, frankly, they SHOULD put the best of the best on DVD). Now it doesn't really put Namie in a good light. I know she can do much, much better!

Ugh, I'm focusing too much on the negative here! The few dance performances she had were really good! I particularily liked Black Diamond, but also Top Secret. And normally I can't stand Sexy Girl, but she did a great performance of the song. What a Feeling was cool and WoWa was fun (is it just me, though, or did she sing "Oi Oi, Wa Wa"?). Wish the camerawork had been better, cuz WoWa certainly suffered from it.

I'm sorry, I didn't mean to write something this long and negative, but I just had to vent. Don't kill me! ^_^;; I love Namie's music and I wish her the best and hope she gets a long, long rest now! She most definitely deserves it!

Please consider her age and her sickness. Of course the vocals suffured a lot because of the cold she had. It takes quite a while to fully recover your original voice after sickness. She did great and they really made a mistake by filming it just after her cold and towards the end of the tour. So don't blame her ^^.
Just think of how many other artists can perform like that ), I bet, there aren't many.

P.S. sorry for my bad english .

Age is nothing but a number, as they say. *points at Madonna* She's 50 but keeps going strong, vocal-wise and performance-wise (I don't like her, but there's no denying she very good live..!). So I don't think Namie being 30+ is the problem. The problem is that she was tired and had just been sick. Like I said (I was the one who wrote the mega-long post just above XD), they should've given her a couple of weeks rest so she could've fully recovered and made this concert her best. I know she can do better than this. I'm not blaming Namie, cuz it probably wasn't her idea to film the tour as late as they did. I guess the fault lies with Avex Trax? But I MUST applaud her for one thing - despite her voice not being at its best, she did sing live!

She had a cold days before the show??
Where can i read information like that? Or what about the opinion of Best Fiction Tour DVD in japan?

Thank you so much.
I agree with your comments.

She had a cold and a fever at the end of April. But since she performed anyway, she probably damaged her voice quite a bit, because she never got enough rest. She strained her voice too much and, like someone else said, it takes time for ones voice to get better - especially if it doesn't get any rest!

I was not blaming Namie, so I hope people did not get the wrong idea from what I wrote. It's not her decision ultimately when it comes down to the recording or the camera work... All I had said was that I wished they had taken a concert from the earlier legs of the tour since she (I assume) would have been in much better shape vocally and probably also put more energy into the performances. I am actually surprised that she even sang that well in the DVD haha, if you watch the bonus footage, at the end, she sings part of Baby, don't cry with her hairstylists and her voice is TOTALLY DEAD >_<. As I said before, she needs to get some rest... direly.

asva said...

Yes, at bonus footage with her hairstylists her voice is totally dead and completely strange, can't recognice her voice when she say a little later "arigato...", i think audio has low quality?

Avex or producers, don't know, they make a mistake choosing that performence, whenever it was. Video's dvd always used to show Tokio's performence, like in Live Style or Play Tour. What's happened this time?

Well when she went to Taiwan (where I think this was filmed?) she was very excited about it and the audience was also very excited so I think that's why they decided to use those clips for the DVD.

I'm personally fine with the tour (in spite of all the things ppl mentioned, which are true). She looks happy and charismatic instead of bored, and smiles a lot. And even when she looks tired, she still looks like she's really into it (like for Sexy Girl). And her voice was still strong for several songs (not all though).

Maybe next tour she can go to Taiwan earlier, and then they can film that...? dunno, but I still like this tour DVD.

I loved the tour, I just dislike the camera-work. :P
At some parts she clearly economized energy, but this tour is long and at the first half of the show, the musics come one after another in a insane speed. o__o'
About Namie not singing some parts, I think it's okay. It's a live after all, it would be bothersome if she sing exactly like in the cd version. XD
About the early performances, they did recorded Namie in Yoyogi according to who went to the concert, but she was sick on the 2 days of recording. D: I think she managed to record it again in Taipei. She was REALLY concerned about not doing a satisfatory performance at Yoyogi. :\

Best Fiction Tour has been something different and it's a great show.

I've been impressed with the parts Namie's not singing because she never used to do that.
She looks more natural, the show has songs modificated like "so crazy" or "violet sauce" that sounds great, and news choreographies. I really dislike camera's work, with too many movement and out of focus.

I agree with all your comments once again. Thanks for the information.

Yeah, I also liked the modified songs. So crazy and alarm were genius!!!! I adore this tour! Namie was so real ) and she was enjoying it. That's what matters ^^.

><" I can't find Can't Sleep, Can't Eat, I'm sick and the ENDING part.... anyone know where I can view them?

I had chills run through me when I watched the 'No' performance. I love Namie, but this is the first time that I ever felt that while watching anything of hers. She did a good job.

i love the outfits. she looks absolutely stunning, but the camera work and editing leave me with a headache. the quick cuts and fast zooms just seem unnecessary. i just want to watch her dance and sing.

Whats the point of doing a 30-song concert and punishing herself? This BestFiction concert was not as good as PLAY concert. I'd rather Namie did less songs and improved overall performance. BestFiction tour was insane! The large stage production didn't suit Namie Amuro. A concert is not a Broadway play. I still like PLAY tour DVD best.
