BoA 'Eat You Up' Asian version

After much long waiting, BoA debut U.S single 'Eat You Up' Music video finally aired in Japan a few hours ago. Here's the Asian version of the MV directed a Korean director:

Once again great choreography and dance by BoA! I'm not really crazy about the song but the video is pretty cool. And I must say BoA looks so young in the video! Looking forward for the American version...

Wow I'm not a big fan of BOA, but that video certainly blew me away!

Hey, Zahra! Nice to see more ppl from Sweden here ^_^

I'm not a big BOA fan, but I do like her early stuff (haven't listened to her in a few years). Unfortunately while I think she did a good job dancing in this video, the song is pretty bad. Her voice is so distorted (I'm guessing to disguise her slight accent?) and the song is not catchy. She really deserves better than this.

Namie amuro should break out in the US too! :O Does anyone know if she's planning to do so?

Anonymous said...

Namie doesn't need to break in to the US. She makes enough money in Japan as it is and I don't get the impression that she, or her record company, is hungry for world fame. :P Also, I don't think Namie knows English very well. She's about 30, so it's kinda late for her to learn English AND make it perfect and accent-free.

But I can't deny that it'd be great if she toured around the world :P

Not really BoA fan either, and i have to say this song is going to be fail in the state, not like its bad or anything, but american pop music is totally at the different level now... and its kinda impossible for any asian artist to get in this market. by the way, good dance in the video, and the song is actually kinda annoying if you listen more than 2 times.
Boa is good artist, good dancer, but when she sing live (w/dance), she complete have no charm on me what-so-ever.

Amuro is the best, she should have release the single in the state, after all, she got the looks ;)

Amuro already said she was not interested in going to the USA. Age means nothing...As for BoA the American version i hope is about the same but never know..I Like BoA and will support her if she dose make it here. I love this verson and the song is cool. I wish her the best..

Namie actually was planning to have an American leg in her SO CRAZY tour but it didn't happen ><. It would be really nice to have Namie do an international tour ^^.

Congrats to BoA in her attempt to tap into the US market. I'm not a big fan of her and I never knew about this lol.
Her dancing and singing may be good but unfortunately, the song isn't good enough and doesn't show off her skill ><

i do like the song! catchy~ the pv...soso...i didn't like her outfit~ though her hair looks great! and dancing great of course

though...i don't like EAT YOU UP for a debut~ that's so....feeding into the Geisha submissive asian female stereotype. -_______- asian american women already face the geisha/asian fetish label, but if this is the first image US has of BoA~ I don't see how it'll be helpful. though sex sells. but doesn't mean I wish asian women to be further portrayed this way.

it's not just the obvious oral sex reference, but like~ for example, girlicious song (not my fav song, btw) she sings: "I'm vicious so delicious all the boys want to eat"~ i'd rather hear boa sing that than i'll eat you up. just my personal opinion, of course.

reveriepapillon said...

lemme add one thing...

obviously amuro also sang about Oral Sex in Strobe - but it's so much DIFFERENT~ she's talking about an intimate relationship and the conflicts within~ it can be done tastefully~ without oppressing other women.

Im not a big fan of BoA but this song is really good, I hope Americans like it and accept it

oh my god! BoA looks like a guy in the video! -_- this is the song she's going to debut in america? She sings better in japanese songs than english songs. How disappointing!

Anonymous said...

Who cares about BoA! We love Amuro Namie! Namie doesn't need to debut in America! She's already famous in Asia. Boa is a hypocrite. She said she's not going to debut in America but oh suddenly she changes her mind! She needs the extra money cuz i guess not too many people are buying her shitty albums or singles. With a shitty song like that its not even going to make it to the top 50 in the U.S.

to the post on the top, boa is NOT going to make to the billboard top 100, I will assure you that.
BoA's popularity is decrease in Japan, that's why she need a new way out to gain that "halo" spot. many Japanese artist are fail to release album in the state, that's including dreams come true, matsuda seiko, as well as utada hikaru. so my prediction for boa is gonna be a BIG failure, and that song is really annoying, she have this high pitch / weak voice that American hate.

Personally I don't like it.
The song is very sterio-typical.
The dancing seems sloppy compared to others I've seen (especially compared to namie's).
And the outfit is so Avril Lavigne it makes me cringe.

I'm ready for more information about Namie's new tour, which starts soon.
And maybe a new song from her?
That would make my year even more than the Best Fiction album. <3

she dance like Avril Lavigne and sing like Britney Spears (>_<)
BoA -> Britney of Asia

4 days for Best fiction tour starts!!!! We'll see the tracklist soon!!!! T____T

xD

I thought on Avril when I first saw this PV... but BoA is dancing very well!!!!!

Out of curiosity, when did Namie mention anything about touring in America or whatever? Like what did she say exactly? The extent that I've heard is that she was planning to, or was thinking about it when she was working with Dallas Austin (for obvious reasons) but she decided not to? How come?

Oh yeah, and I LOVED Eat You Up. Stfu haters. Just because we love Namie does NOT mean that we have to bash BoA. And BoA is a good dancer too.

I don't understand how you (a Anonymous person) can call BoA hypocrite because she change her mind about debuting America, what weird thing to say. Of course BoA and her agency want to do new stuff and make more money. It's good thing she tries new things.
I qoute what another Anonymous person said: "she have this high pitch / weak voice that American hate." Really America doesn't like people with high pitch/weak voice? How many singers with bad voices have all heard from over there succeeding (I don't think BoA has weak voice).

Like somebody else asked too I wonder when did Namie say she interested or planned touring in America? Does somebody have a articlelink about that? I don't believe it myself without a source.

Btw, cool that so many are interested about this topix. :)

Everyone is entitled to thier own opinion.
Telling people to shut up and criticizing them for speaking thier mind about what they think about the video is not right.
This is a Namie fan site so there will obviously be more Namie fans than BoA fans.
It is all about personal preference so please do not get agressive and mean.

to zahra, i dont really hate boa, but i will assure you she will NOT make it to the top 50 on billboard chart, maybe the dance one, but NEVER the main chart.

this song does get on my nerves, maybe its her voice, and yes, american HATE this type of voice, unless its from a beautiful and talent less blond chick.

boa dance good, but there's many good dance out there; her voice is alright, but not out standing; she's famous, but not as popular as amuro namie or hamasaki ayumi. her fame is decrease in japan, korea dramatically. its just sad.

but i do agree, we shouldn't bash her, because at least she is trying. good luck to boa, because she need that in the US market.

zahra said...

I agree with you Sarah, everybody entitle to their opinion. And I was only giving my opinion back, I didn't mean to bash, if you meant me too.

To Anonymous person: I don't think this song going to be a hit in America either. They don't know her over there and the song is only good not great that she needed. She's not wearing sleazy clothes either to sale, I respect her for that. But I don't like the ugly clothes she's wearing, what's up with that?. With the voice I meant like you the sleazy blonde chick making a hit even though she can't sing to save her life. I still say America doesn't hate them because they still buy their annoying music.
You said isn't going make into Top 50, I don't think is going to make in to Top 100.
But the song is going to be released in Asia too, maybe that could give her higher sales and more notice.
Btw, weird calling you Anonymous person all the time, nice talking to you.

omg i can't wait for see her epicfail in the US.

They should replace the US version with this version, then MAYBE she wont fail in the US...

I so agree with anonymous. The US version of the MV should be replaced. It was just plain bad. I got a headache after watcing the US MV.
