BoA 'I Did It For Love'

Here are the music video and live performance of BoA's second single "I Did it for love" from her debut U.S English album:

BoA in tight leather and acting sexy is not what I like of her but the song is damn good and catchy. One of my favorite song from the album!

Was this in America? For some reason i feel she will become popular here! I just heard Utada's Come Back To Me on the radio on easter and i was so happy! also I'm American and its sad to say but in most videos the girls show off a lot of skin, but people like Namie show of barely any! lol

I actually think this song is one of the worst on the album. I find it soooo boring :P The only song that I actually like from her album is Did Ya - it has a playful and "cool" feeling, which makes it different from the other songs on the album IMO. Some of the other songs are okay as well, so even if I'm not a Boa-fan I was kind of impressed with the album.

I just don't like I Did It For Love XD

Wow, I just noticed, I wrote "album" a million times XD I need to proof-read my texts better.

Omg, the repetitions reminds me of SNSD's "Gee" -_- I think if the chorus was different, it would be better. and SM needs to stop making her voice digitalize to hide her Engrish.

the song is very nice, and the video is cool...
Boa looks great! very beautiful in the MV.

The song is nice... where was this performance? (hopefully America :))

I can still hear her accent a bit, but yea I also hope they stop digitalizing all her songs' vocals.
She seems to be good at languages though, so I'm sure that once she's good enough at english they'll stop (or at least that's the hope).

The MV reminds me a lot of Britney Spears' music video of "Stronger"
I don't think the whole sexy theme suits her very well

It is similar to Britney's "Stronger" because the director is just the same. It's actually pretty awesome...though there were some odd scenes (esp. the slow motion at the end). I personally think that BoA should stick to her edgy style rather than this sexy ones.

She looks more mature .. lol ... more so than Namie .. The song is okay , but she can really dance but her live performance is not so power la ... I wonder why NAmie does not try to break the US market ??? .... ;p ...

Haato, if you have nothing good to say, don't say anything at all..

I actually think it's pretty awesome, even though I'm not a big fan of BoA. In Brazil her fans are trying to make her music play on radios as well, I truly hope her international career gets great results. ^-^

The song is crap and the video is boring! Why did this take over 2 months to release!? All they did was add some water. The video was boring. It looked like a cross between Britney's "Stronger" and The Forehead's "Umbrella". The only cool things about the video were the dancing and how HAWT BoA looked.

In the synth pop / club stakes - I'd take Namie's "Wild" over "I did it for love" any day. Better song and a better video.

BoA shouldn't be going with this for a single. She should go with "Did ya" instead. That's the only song on the album I like and think is good - even if it does sound a lot like Britney's "Toxic".

WTF to the last comment! are you kidding me? its good to see what other people are doing, he is a fan of both and many others anyway! and I LOVE NAMIE WAY MORE!!! But you should at least show respect and say something like
"how come there is a BoA post here?"
so bye bye HATER!!!

It's more similar to "Umbrella" by Rihanna... but, however, it's excellent

BoA's dancing is equal to Namie IMO.

So to me, I find it funny when you guys make fun of either artist ==".

Until one of them can break dance, pull of a perfect Janet Jackson, shake their booty like Beyonce, do acrobats, and ballet neither of them should be praised like the Goddesses of Dance.

Namie came from the lazy school of dancing - her facial expression hardly changes when she dances. It's like Namie has a plastic mask on or she sprained her face.

BoA's problem is that she heavily depends on choreography and doesn't free style. Also BoA doesn't really have originality in dancing.

well, i see, my comments got deleted. Anyway, i just want to say, this is "namie news network", not "boa news network", we all come here for the amuro's news, and boa got nothing to do with namie, i dont even know why she's on this post.
maybe this blog should change the name to jpop news network, its more suitable!

What Beyonce does is more like spasming...

When Namie went to Tokyo to train she said it was a lot more intense there, so she hasn't come from the lazy school all of her life.

People need to stop bitching. Sheesh.

Thanks for posting!! I like BoA! I bought her english album and her english PVs, as with Utada. I'm trying to support Asian artists crossing over to the English market as much as I can. I've been waiting for this video to come out for MONTHS!! But I think she took a little vacation to rest up. She said the only time she had to sleep was on the airplane, and she was flying between Japan and USA every week. I'm glad she decided to release this! And hopefully she will begin promoting in the States where she left off! Thanks for the extra picture! I was bummed iTunes did not include a digital booklet with the album.

P.S.- Ignore the complainers! This is YOUR blog! Post whatever you want! I think you do a fantastic job!!

I do not understand how you are saying that she came from a lazy school. She went to "Okinawa Actors School" despite the fact that she had to walk 2 hours to get there from her home. She is the one of the most passionate artist that I've ever seen.

Okay, so I agree that Namie Amuro could use some more expression when she performs. You can't just depend on good choreography to excite an audience; if the entertainer looks bored, how is anyone else supposed get hyped?

Now that being said, while she isn't the most passionate performer, she is not lazy. You don't get that good sitting on your ass all day! :P And its not like she actually lacks personality herself; you can tell she's a very cute and sweet person outside of her performances. She just needs some tips on performing. Big deal. You're all already fans of her in spite of that; and if you're not, I'm curious to why you came to this site in the first place. o_O

And while I am a fan of her dancing, where is everyone getting this 'Boa is more mature than Namie' thing? As good as she is at said dancing, you can tell from her interviews that she doesn't have much more substance in her head than the average teenage girl. Britney Spears is one of her biggest idols. She's unoriginal, and nothing sets her apart from other artists. Even her mad dances are all choreographed by other people. There's nothing unique about her herself; and she can't really pull off the sexy thing, even while pumping her cleavage in a black-leather outfit.

While Namie Amuro manages to be sexy and classy at the same time, and despite her miraculously young appearance, you can sense her maturity just by listening to her voice.

So, no, I'm no Boa hater. Even though I agree that her debut isn't being gone about the best way--J-poppers are more tolerant, but the #1 thing Asians are made fun of by Americans for is their accent. She should've worked on her English before trying. And so the video could've used a more spice, it WAS pretty similar to Rihanna's Umbrella, and it probably won't get her as much attention as we want.

But seriously guys, who will support Boa if J-pop fans don't? Its fine if you acknowledge the things wrong with the video, her debut, or whatever; but just hating for the sake of hating just pointlessly ticks people off. So if you want to say something, say it nicely--and don't forget to mention the good parts. I mean, really, was that choreography hot or what? :P
